When you volunteer as a Shelter Is Golden Host, everything is up to you:

Our Enrollment Form lets you determine the age and gender of who you shelter

You can shelter as many people as you want…or as few

If you can shelter pets, the breed, gender, size, and age are yours to decide

You specify what your Guest must bring with them

You meet your Guest before any emergency, and can find out whatever you need to have peace of mind

Your Sheltering Arrangement won’t last longer than the emergency

If additional questions arise, we’ll get the answers

Your Guests are screened in advance, and the deal’s off if you don’t like them (except during the actual emergency)
Your personal preferences determine who you help…
As long as you follow Shelter Is Golden procedures (which are basic common sense), you're protected from liability for the people you shelter under Florida’s “Good Samaritan” law.
